Although the Gypsy is 65 feet long, you will be as close to the water as you would be on a small boat. The stability of a large vessel will allow you to walk around the boat for better views of the Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins as they swim and surface in their year round home. Learn more about these friendly creatures and the behavior patterns that are unique to the dolphins of this area. You’ll be able to sit in comfort and enjoy a cold drink or snack in the sun or shade as we show you the sights.

Dolphins and More
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the Gypsy will leave South Beach Marina for a 1 1/2 hour guided tour of our marine environment.
During this trip you’ll see and learn about the Atlantic bottlenose dolphins – their feeding habits – how they communicate – their ’sonar’ system – how they raise their young and more.
We’ll pull a crab pot and show you the safe way to handle a blue claw crab and other creatures that have found their way into our trap – stone crabs, toad fish, puffer fish, baby shark, and more.
We’ll demonstrate how to throw a cast net and give you a chance to try your hand at ‘casting the net’ for shrimp, mullet, and menhaden.
You’ll learn about salt marshes, estuaries and their importance to the life and growth of the marine life that inhabit our environment.
If you’re a bird watcher, be sure to bring your binoculars and camera. Expect to see many species of sea gulls, brown pelicans, osprey, cormorants, egrets, blue herons and other shore birds.
The price of the trip is $19 for adults and $9 for children (2 and under free). No reservations are necessary.

Kids Cruise
Monday through Friday during June, July, and August, the Gypsy leaves South Beach Marina for a two-hour cruise of the coastal waters bordering Hilton Head Island.
The cruise is especially designed to provide hands-on experience for children interested in the creatures that live above and below the coastal waters of our area.
During this cruise, kids will have a chance to:
Throw a cast net for bait fish and shrimp! This looks easy but you may be surprised. Don’t be embarrassed is if you can’t do it on the first try.
Pull a crab pot! Many local people make a living crabbing. Pots are baited and pulled on a regular basis. We’ll bait them, let’s see what you catch!
Fish for shark! We will have fishing poles aboard and if you catch a shark we will release it, to help preserve the species. Maybe you’ll catch him again next year!
Spot a Dolphin! The dolphins of the coastal waters are friendly and curious. Many times they will come up to the boat to see what we are doing and get a look at you!
Ask Questions! Our captain and crew have a great deal of knowledge about our area and the creatures that inhabit it. They don’t get stumped too often!
Wear old clothes! You might get wet! You might get muddy! You might even get slimy! So don’t show up in the designer outfit you intend to wear to dinner tonight.

Fireworks
Tuesday evenings – June, July and August. To view the fireworks, cruise with us up Calibogue Sound, past Harbour Town to Broad Creek. Enjoy the sunset while looking for Dolphin along the way. Avoid the traffic by coming to South Beach Marina to cruise aboard the Gypsy.

The Drifter is a 60-foot long party fishing boat that has been family owned and operated from South Beach Marina for over 20 years. The finest in electronics for safety, navigation and fish finding have been installed to make your trips pleasant and safe. Everything that is needed for fishing is provided, including rod and reel, bait, instruction, and fishing license. The Drifter is located at South Beach Marina Village in Sea Pines Plantation. South Beach Marina is the closest departure point to the fishing grounds of Hilton Head. This allows us to get your line in the water sooner.
Make a day of it on the 32-foot Stuart Angler “Boomerang”! Leaving out of South Beach Marina, the closest marina to the ocean, the “Boomerang” will put you on the bite in record time. Catch Spanish and King Mackerel, Barracuda, Tarpon, Cobia, Shark, Grouper and more. Because of our proximity to the fishing grounds travel time is much less than others, giving you the most fishing time for your money.
